DC Mon highlights activities of district level committee
Mon, October 17 (MExN): Mon is one among the three districts in Nagaland, among 272 districts in India selected for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) campaign. Dimapur and Kohima are the other two districts chosen for NMBA in Nagaland.
This was informed by Thavaseelan K, IAS, DC, Mon and Chairman District Level Committee for Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Mon during its monthly review meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall on October 16.
Nasha Mukt Bharat Annual Action Plan for 2020-21 focuses on 272 most affected districts and launch a three-pronged attack combining efforts of narcotics bureau, outreach/awareness by Social Justice and Treatment through the Health Department.
The DC chairing the meeting called upon all the stakeholders to strive to take this opportunity and reap the benefits of this campaign. He also informed the house about the constitution and function of the state level and district level committees, as well as the aims and programmes of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
Since the constitution of the district committee in the month of august, the committee has initiated various awareness activities and video lectures. As per the guidelines, Mon District has also identified 26 Master Volunteers from various fields who will be trained and carrying out various activities of the Abhiyaan across the District. Various IEC materials have also been developed in addition to a theme song for NMBA.
Under this campaign, Mon District has also activated a dedicated 24X7 Helpline for easy access to information, services and any kind of assistance.
The District Level Committee is collaborating with the Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Banjum (KBBB) (Apex Konyak Baptist Churches Association) to form Youth Clubs in all the villages and towns of the District. The concept of these ‘Yes to Life’ Clubs is to engage the youth in various positive and constructive activities in an effort to keep them away from substance abuse.
The calendar of activities to be undertaken till March 2021 was also placed before the house for discussion and approval.
