Mon, April 22 (MExN): Advisor, Law & Justice and SCERT, H Chuba Chang on April 22 laid the foundation stone of District Court Complex and inaugurated the Judicial Officer's quarter at Mon. 

Speaking at the event, Chang stated that there should be a balance between customary laws and the judicial system for smooth functioning and proper delivery of justice in the society. He stressed on the importance of legal awareness among the Naga society, a DIPR report stated. 

MLA, N Thongwang Konyak said the District Court Complex was a long overdue aspiration of the people of Mon and thanked the Department for marking the start of the project with the laying of the foundation stone. He expressed hope that the project would be completed soon and also improve the justice delivery system in the District. 

Secretary Judicial, Department of Law & Justice, Nino Iralu, NJS, stated that the judicial system in Mon is complete; however, there was a need for infrastructural improvement. “This need for improvement is being addressed with the laying of the foundation stone and the inauguration of the judicial quarter,” she added.

DC Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS praised the Judicial Officers for functioning very effectively despite the infrastructural difficulties and asserted that with the completion of the Complex, their ability to deliver justice would be facilitated in a better manner. He expressed hope that the Complex gets completed fast for Mon to have its own District Court Complex soon. 

Executive Engineer, CAWD, Sungtiba Amer highlighted the technical report of the judicial quarter in which the total estimated cost i/c sites & services stands at Rs 223.61 Lakh. It is a ground + 1 storied RCC building with a total plinth area of 4118.40 sq ft. 

Chief Judicial Magistrate & Civil Judge (Sr Division) Mon, Wonchibeni V Patton, NJS chaired the programme.  The welcome address was delivered by District & Session Judge, Mon, Tucuno Vamuzo, NJS while the vote of thanks was delivered by Secretary Law, Department of Law & Justice, Ngamjok Konyak.
