Mon district joins campaign to end malaria for good

Mon, October 31 (MExN): Malaria elimination programme with the theme ‘Let’s put our hands together to end malaria for good’ was officially launched in Mon at Block Health Office on October 31.  

Shanavas C (IAS), ADC Mon, who launched the campaign, said there are several causes of the vector borne diseases prevalent in the society and personal hygiene and social hygiene play vital role. “One of the elements to eliminate malaria and other vector borne diseases is to give a modest concern to our social hygiene,” he stated. The ADC advised the participants to give awareness to the people to have clean surrounding and proper solid waste management in order to maintain good health.  

District Malaria Officer, Dr Limatula Aier, DVBO (NVBDP) in her PowerPoint presentation explained the features of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), its aim, objectives and vision. She also briefed on the strategic plan of the district in accordance with the status of malaria trend by presenting a statistical graph on malaria in the district, categorization of areas as per Annual Parasite Incidence (API), milestones and targets, epidemiological data of Mon, focus according to prioritization of areas, stratification of malaria based on Block, SC and village with API less than 1 and API 1-2 and activities/challenges as per API.
