More allegations on Intangki; govt blamed

Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): In the ongoing Media war over encroachment in Intangki National Park, “Inavi/Hevuto village” today issued a statement giving its version of the March 28 incident where firing between Biesumpiukum villagers and “Naga united village/Inavi village” was reported. The statement accused Biesumpiukum and “government agencies” of being in connivance against “Inavi/Hevuto.”
A rejoinder appended by ‘head GB’ of “Inavi/Hevuto village” Hevuto Swu asserted today that at around ‘7 Am to 8 Am’ Forest guard personnel numbering about 20 came to “Inavi/Hevuto” and forcefully searched for arms. The guards also assaulted one person called Pukhaho before they left, the rejoinder stated. Soon after they left, Biesumpiukum villagers “numbering around 300 persons showed up” and “started attacking and burning down the houses, fields and properties,” the rejoinder said. During the “premeditated attack” by the “Biesumpiukum villagers and the Forest department” several shots were fired “by the attackers”. The statement said the four injured Biesumpiukum villagers were “self-inflicted among themselves” and not by “Inavi/Hevuto” persons.
The statement called the alleged attack ‘preplanned’   and “prepared hand-in-gloves with the forest officials.”  The Forest personnel had searched for arms in “Inavi/Hevuto” and “paving the way for the attack,” the ‘head GB’ claimed. It stated that if in future any untoward incident leading to deaths of “Inavi/Hevuto” persons happens, the ‘Forest govt. officials shall be held solely responsible’.
The statement said Biesumpiukum villagers are “fond of weaving tales and twisting real facts into fabricated ones.” The statement also listed some “few related attacks/incidents” allegedly perpetuated by Biesumpiukum villagers.  On January 31 and February 1, 2011, “Inavi/Hevuto” asserted, about “150 to 200” from Biesumpiukum village “equipped with sophisticated weapons attacked” and destroyed valuable properties including granaries. On March 25, 2011, “around 100 persons” from Biesumpiukum village came, began occupying some portion of cultivated land, and burned crops belonging to “Inavi/Hevuto” persons.
The statement said that the raiding persons had claimed that the Forest department had granted them “NO Objection Certificate” and that the department has already allotted them additional areas of Intangki National Park to Biesumpiukum village.  “There is no doubt that Biesumpiukum  villagers assisted by government agencies ...
...have been perpetuating unwarranted actions against Inavi/Hevuto villagers and therefore we appeal to the Nagas to raise their voice against the arbitrary action of the DAN government and its agencies…” the statement said.
The statement also asked for verification and investigation of “ground realities” instead of being wrongly informed by “the non-Nagas residing at Biesumpiukum village who are alien to the ways and customs of our Nagas,” it added.
