
Dimapur, February 12 (MExN): The Sümi Hoho has condemned the tragic incident that occurred in Thilixu village, where a woman was allegedly murdered by her husband.
In a press releasem Dr Vihuto Asumi, President, Sümi Hoho stated that such heinous acts of domestic violence are abhorrent and have no place in our society. The hoho commended the Nagaland Police for their prompt action in apprehending the accused, “who was intercepted while in hiding following the incident.” Further, it appealed to the law enforcement agencies to ensure that the perpetrator faces the full extent of the law. It is imperative that justice is served swiftly and decisively to deter such acts in the future and to uphold the rule of law, it added.
The hoho also appealed to the community to remain vigilant against domestic violence and to support initiatives that promote awareness, prevention, and intervention.
In another press release, the Western Sümi Hoho condemned the heinous crime stating that it has sent shockwaves throughout our community, creating an atmosphere of fear and trauma. “We strongly condemn this inhumane act, which has no place on our civilized society. Such acts of violence pose a significant threat to our social fabric, and we urge all responsible citizens to join us in condemning this atrocity,” Media Cell, Western Sümi Hoho stated in its release.
