
DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 2 (MExN): Consequent to the October 31 development in the political talks between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) over the issue of separate Naga flag, various Naga civil organizations have welcomed the thawing of the stalemate.
The organisations also lauded the Working Committee of the 7 Naga National Political Groups, the other party engaged in a parallel peace negotiation with the GoI.
Earlier on October 31, the WC had expressed confidence that the NSCN (IM) leadership has opted for peace adopting a practical and realistic approach to concluding the political negotiations.
NSF:
The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) while welcoming the positive outcome of the October 31 meeting between the Government of India (GoI) and the NSCN (IM) appreciated both the parties involved in the political dialogue for adopting such “progressive policies and resorting to ways that could eventually reign in a peaceful future for the Naga people.”
In a press statement, the Federation said it is convinced that this recent development is another landmark towards amicably resolving the South-East Asia’s longest movement for self determination in a manner which will uphold the legitimate rights and unique history of the Nagas.
NTC:
The Nagaland Tribes Council congratulated the NSCN (IM), WC-NNPGs and the GoI represented by Interlocutor, RN Ravi for their efforts towards bringing the protracted Indo-Naga political issue to a logical end.
The NTC also thanked the 14 indigenous Naga tribes of Nagaland, and the Nagaland GB Federation for having stood in unity and whose expressive support for solution was a crucial requirement at the very critical juncture. It thanked fellow indigenous minority tribes, and the indigenous citizens of Nagaland for the steadfast encouragement and support for timely political solution.
It also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi for his dedication, and magnanimity towards the Naga peace process and to the Chief Minister of Nagaland and his colleagues and the opposition members for their unstinted cooperation.
Further, the NTC appreciated the NNPGs who set aside their differences and with all humbleness positively responded to the wishes of the people of Nagaland, formed the Working Committee and participated in the talks in the spirit of oneness through which the solution was persuaded.
Meanwhile, the NTC has appealed all not to be swayed away by the rampant spread of misinformation and fake news on the latest developments.
Both the GoI and the Naga leaders are dedicatedly working for a brighter and better future for the Nagas and therefore calls for everyone to extend cooperation, it stated.
ZCOs:
The Zeliangrong Civil Organizations (ZCOs) comprising Zeliangrong Baudi, Zeliangrong Youth Front and Zeliangrong Student’s Union has appreciated the Government of India (GoI) under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the efforts given to bring a final solution to the decades long Naga political movement.
The strong political will displayed by the GoI to end the protracted Naga political issue shows determination to usher long lasting peace in the region in the days to come, a press statement issued by media & publicity cell, ZCOs on behalf of the Zeliangrong people living in the State of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland stated.
The ZCOs also applauded the sincerity, commitment and determination of RN Ravi, Interlocutor for Indo-Naga peace talks.
It hailed and congratulated the NNPGs and NSCN (IM) for not losing the golden opportunity but understanding the desire, upholding of the Naga people who want to live in peace after suffering in different forms for decades due to Naga people political movement.
Meanwhile, the ZCOs espoused confidence that the GoI and the WC-NNPGs and NSCN (IM) will now work out a mechanism towards moving on the path of peace and progress without backtracking to fulfil the wishes of the Naga people.
It also appealed very individual irrespective different communities both Nagas and non Nagas living in the State of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland to remain calm and to spread the message of peace and harmony in the region without which development, understanding, progress and prosperity of the region cannot be achieved.
