
Dimapur, June 11 (MExN): The Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) has extended its fullest support and vowed to extend any possible cooperation into the demand made by Ao Senden and other tribal students and hohos on the demand for immediate construction of Foothill Road.
The WSSU felt that the genuine demand of the people should be addressed by the state Government without delay. The Union further endorsed the decision of the five tribal apex students’ union for forming Foothill Road Construction Demand Committee (FRCDC) to further the process.
“Due to lack of circular or inters district connectivity ring road, the Nagas living in the border parts of the state are left to their mercy of unscrupulous person who often take advantage of the main line crossing the state in every petty individual differences,” WSSU stated. Nagas cannot be at the receiving end all the time and therefore strongly urge the state government to act with valor this time and boost the moral of the people living in the border.
Meanwhile, the United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLB) has extended support to the demand of ACAUT. The USLB in a support note stated that the goods vehicles bound for Kiphire had to pay at different location to several organisations amounting to Rs.9000 per truck, which is the reason for exorbitant rise of price on essential commodities. The USLB also discourage the dealership system and request to do away with the idea. Meanwhile, the office has also extends full support to the Ao Senden’s demands and urges the State Government to take up the construction of Foothill Roads at top priority.
