More cases of people testing positive via TrueNat screening have surfaced in Dimapur. After the SBI Bazar Branch and the 82 year-old cases, samples of 5 army men and 2 railway workers tested positive via TrueNat.
According to official sources, 5 army personnel from the Rangapahar Military Station, whose samples were screened by TrueNat, tested positive on July 20. Their samples were collected and sent to Kohima today for confirmatory RT-PCR tests.
Further, a railway official informed that samples of 2 “parcel men” returned positive in the TrueNat screening. While stating that their samples were sent for confirmatory RT-PCR tests some 2-3 days ago, the official said that the test results were awaited.
In connection to the SBI Bazar branch case, it was confirmed today that samples of 3 persons were sent for confirmatory RT-PCR on July 20 and the results were pending.
Meanwhile, all the persons in concern have been isolated and the necessary response measures activated, it was informed.
According to Health officials, TrueNat screening enables quicker response in the event of a positive result. Positive samples are sent for further confirmatory tests; meanwhile, isolation of individuals and contact tracing is activated pending the confirmatory result.
