Chumoukedima, July 28 (MExN): The Peace Center at NEISSR Chumoukedima celebrated the inauguration of its Morung and the blessing of its main gate.

The ceremony commenced with the inauguration of the Morung, a central feature of Naga cultural heritage, warmly welcomed by Fr. C.P. Anto, Principal of NEISSR Institute. Fr. Anto, in his address, emphasized the symbolic significance of the main gate, stating, "As individuals pass through this gate, they are not only entering a space but also stepping into a realm of knowledge and service, where excellence is nurtured."

The main gate, a key focus of the event, was blessed in a subsequent ceremony. Nosazol Charles, the State Information Commissioner, highlighted the gate's dual role as a protective structure and a conduit of positive energy and knowledge. He remarked that the gate represents an instrument for learning and growth, inspiring students and faculty alike.

Rev. Fr. Rozu Anthony Dukru, Parish Priest of St. Joseph Chumoukedima, also blessed the gate, commending NEISSR's management and faculty for their role in motivating the younger generation and cultivating a spirit of wisdom and excellence among all who pass through it.

Sakhrie Yashü C Khel, Chairman of Ngucha Punyü Gaunbura Tenyiphe, officially inaugurated the Morung and delivered a felicitation speech. Yashü celebrated the Morung as a symbol of unity and progress, acknowledging its role in preserving cultural values and fostering community spirit.

Vincent Antony elaborated on the significance of the Morung, explaining that 'KIKI' refers to the communal house where traditions and communal bonds are nurtured. The Morung stands as a testament to the village’s rich cultural history and its importance in maintaining social cohesion.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Fr. Khing, Vice Principal of NEISSR, who expressed gratitude to all attendees for their participation and support. He also acknowledged those who contributed financially to the erection of the Morung and the gate, emphasizing their roles in strengthening community ties and preserving cultural heritage.
