Mother’s Day celebrated across Nagaland

Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): The people of Nagaland celebrated Mother’s Day with a variety of programmes on May 8.

At the Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church, Church Secretary Dr Ratan Kaurintta exhorted the mothers and said that the day is marked to focus on the various aspects of motherhood. Dr Kaurintta also said that motherhood is a great honour and it brings great memories for everyone, according to a press release from the KLBC Media Cell.

Dr Kaurintta also shared Biblical examples of motherhood, and encouraged mothers as well as fathers to remain close-knit in the fear of God, it said. 

In Zunheboto, the Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto along with the rest of the world celebrated Mother's day on 8th May 2022 at Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto. 

Dr Hutton Sumi, Pastor Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto, drew references of Sarah, Hagar, Betsheba and Mother Mary in the Bible, and encouraged the mothers in the congregation to look towards God at all times. 

He said that today’s children are observing and following the footsteps of their parents and that ‘one cannot gossip at home and sing hallelujah in the church.’ As such, he urged the mothers to ‘make their home a church.’

According to a press release, the programme was chaired by Agape Chishi, Associate Pastor (Youth) SBCZ, praise and worship was led by the young fathers of Project Colony, and a special prayer for mothers was pronounced by Aboli H Aye, Associate Pastor (Women), SBCZ.
