MoU for strengthening Police Hospital signed

Kohima, September  29 (NEPS): The State Police Department has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (Term of Reference) with the Department of Health and Family Welfare (DHMF) here at Police HQs on Wednesday.

The MoU was signed by State GDP K Kire on behalf of the Police Department while M John, Commissioner and Secretary, DHFW on behalf of the DHFW.

Exuding confidence that the mutual partnership between the two departments would bring a change in the health sector in the Police hospitals and units in the State, the DGP said the signing of the MoU would be to upgrade the existing Central Police Hospital at Chumukedima as a “First Referral Unit (FRU) for delivery of quality health care. 

He said the Police Department had seven specialists including one cardiac surgeon who were deployed in battalion health units elsewhere in the state. They would be brought back at Central Police Hospital at Chumukedima and utilized their services with the up-gradation of the existing of the hospital (Central Police Hospital, Chumukedima).

Kire said the Police department has more than 25,000 personnel and with their family members, it was a huge lot demanding more and more medical facilities. Many police personnel also spent lot of government money for outside treatment, he disclosed. He said, “once the existing Central Police Hospital, Chumukedima is upgraded as Referral Unit with other advance medical facilities, they would be able to save lot of money.”

The Police chief also expressed his happiness on the State Health Department for their coming forward for mutual partnership with his Department for up-gradation of the existing hospital with manpower and 
logistic supports.
