MPL: Falcons deal crushing first loss to leaders All Blacks

Kohima, May 12 (MExN): Amur Falcons registered a thumping 7-0 win over All Blacks in the ongoing Morning Premier League at the Local Ground Kohima on Friday.   In the process, Falcons inflicted on the league leaders their first loss and also brought their 9-game unbeaten run to a halt.   Falcons delivered a dominant performance as they recorded their second consecutive 7-goal score in the tournament. The first half saw just one goal as both teams dug deep to get a win – Seyie scoring with an astute free kick in the 27th minute.   However, the second half was a different story. Falcons were rampant and found goals at will leaving the league leaders stunned.   One minute into the restart, Falcons had doubled the lead with Seyie getting his second. Akhum then made it 3-0 in the 54th minute. All Blacks seemingly lost focus and conceded a penalty ten minutes later. Seyie stepped up and comfortably placed the ball past the All Blacks custodian to complete his hat-trick.   Falcons’ Chipang made it 5-0 in the 74th minute and Mele completed the rout with two late goals in the 81st and 88th minute.   Despite the loss, All Blacks continue to top the table with 25 points from their 10 games while three consecutive wins for Amur Falcons see them climb to fourth with 18 points – ahead of Merhulietsa FC, also on 18 points, with a better goal difference.   Amur Falcons will next take on third placed Medical XI (19 points) on May 15.
