MTDFA Trophy 2019: SSS Blue end campaign with win over Sungkomen FC

The last match of the group stages of MDFA Trophy 2019 was played today between Sungkomen FC and SSS Blue of Pool D. 

It was a dead rubber match as both teams were already out of the tournament but SSS Blue went home with some pride as they won the match with a solitary goal scored by Longsemtong in the 28th minute.

However, Sungkomen FC was left with a lot of thinking to do as they exited the tournament without a single point from 4 games.

After a gruelling round robin league where a total of 32 matches were played and 115 goals scored by 62 different players from the 18 teams in the tournament, only the top 8 teams now remain in the title race. Temjenmeren of SSS Yellow is the leading goal scorer of the tournament as of now with 8 goals to his name, followed by Suponglemba of Zonipang SA with 6 goals. The tournament has also seen 37 players being cautioned for foul play and one sent off.

The quarterfinals will begin from Monday where 2012 and 2017 champions Zonipang SA will face SSS Yellow in the first quarterfinal match which will kick off at 12:00 noon. 

The second quarterfinal match will begin from 02:00 PM Monday between defending champions Intermingle Club and Kumlong SA.
