Mokokchung, November 18 (MExN): The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) has taken serious note of the non-disposal of garbage from the different garbage dumps in Mokokchung Town.
In a press statement, the Telongjem stated there are complaints from different quarters about the stink and non-disposal of garbage from the various garbage dumps in and around the town. It pointed out there are 18 wards in the town and the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has distributed six pick-up trucks to eight wards under the Swachh Bharat Mission; “however, the condition of the garbage disposal is at its worst.”
MTLT opined that since the six wards of Mokokchung Town are managing the garbage disposal on their own, the MMC should be lightened of their workload in clearing the dumps in the remaining twelve wards.
Towards this end, an emergency executive meeting of the MTLT was held on November 15 where it was strongly resolved to tackle the issue. Likewise, the MTLT met the ADC of Mokokchung Mangpai Phom, who is also in-charge of MMC, and discussed the issue threadbare on November 16, according to the statement. Apart from the non-disposal of garbage by the MMC, the MTLT asked about the condition of the cesspool vehicle under the supervision of MMC.
The MMC Administrator, the release said, assured to look into the issue at the earliest.
MTLT hoped that MMC will do the needful and keep the town neat and clean, “lest it affects the health of the people and the youths take drastic steps.”
