Dimapur | July 25

A day after admission to a hospital in Dimapur, Th Muivah, General Secretary of the NSCN (IM), was responding well to treatment and in a stable condition. The 87 year-old veteran Naga leader was admitted to the CIHSR on July 24, two days after testing positive for COVID-19.

“He was admitted last evening (July 24) after complaining of discomfort and his condition (as on Sunday) was stable,” said Dr Clement Momin, Medical Superintendent of the CIHSR at a press conference today.

Dr Momin did not go into the details of Muivah’s health complaint, only stating, “He slept well last night, he is cheerful, is eating well and he has not had any fever during the last 24 hours.”

While informing that he is being kept under close observation in the Intensive Care Unit, the doctor said that Muivah’s release from the hospital would depend on the pace of recovery and response to treatment.

As per other sources, Muivah was scheduled to leave for Hebron, the NSCN (IM)’s Council headquarters, on July 22 after the meeting with the Nagaland Legislative Assembly’s Parliamentary Core Committee on the Naga Political Issue a day earlier in Dimapur. His trip back to the headquarters was delayed after he tested positive during precautionary COVID-19 test.

Following his positive test result, the Parliamentary Core Committee members, who attended the July 21 meeting, also underwent precautionary COVID-19 tests. While not disclosed officially by the State government, the results of some senior legislators returned negative. It could not be ascertained how many legislators took the test.
