Florence Adaziia receives Ashikho Daili Trust Award
Kohima, May 4 (MExN): The Mao Union Kohima (MUK) on May 3 held a felicitation ceremony to honour students from the Mao community who passed the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations in 2025.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Ashikho Daili Trust Award for Academic Excellence to Florence Adaziia, who secured the 17th rank in the HSLC examination. She received a cash award of Rs 20,000 and a citation. Patron Ashikho Daili presented the award, marking the 19th recipient since the award’s inception in 2005.
Addressing the gathering, Ashikho Daili said the award completed its 20th year this year. To mark the milestone, jubilee souvenirs were handed over to trustees who have supported the initiative over the past two decades.
In her address, Florence Adaziia thanked God and urged fellow students to remain disciplined and committed from a young age. She shared insights from her academic journey and encouraged her peers to strive for excellence.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Losii Chalai exhorted students to “befriend their future” through determination and hard work, while reminding them to always keep faith in God. Another speaker, Puni Kokho, spoke on the importance of self-awareness and advised students to “listen more, look for more, and speak less.”
Earlier, MUK President H. Dihe welcomed the gathering and congratulated the students for their achievements. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by E. Krelo, General Secretary of MUK, who reaffirmed the union’s commitment to encouraging education within the Mao community.
MUK officials said the felicitation event, held annually, is a longstanding tradition that reflects the community’s pride in its students and investment in their academic growth.
