Mon, January 5 (MExN): The multi-utility building cum indoor stadium at Longchang under Mon district was inaugurated by MLA Eshak Konyak on January 5 in the presence of Deputy Commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K, IAS and other officials.
Speaking at the inaugural function, MLA Eshak, who himself is a sports enthusiast, encouraged the people to utilise the facility and build fit and healthy society. He appreciated the Department of Under-Developed Areas (DUDA) for funding the project, the contractor concerned for timely completion, the village council of Longchang and other civil society’s leaders for cooperation and also Badminton Hub, Nagarjan Dimapur for logistic support.
The DC Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS in his short speech highlighted various initiatives taken up by the local MLAs from Mon district and the government of Nagaland particularly on upgradation of healthcare services and sporting facilities.
Y Poangba Konyak, president, Mon District Badminton Association also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, the chief guest was given guard of honour by the Village Guards personnel and unveiled the inaugural plaque after dedicatory prayer was offered by Rev Ashok Pastor, LVBC. The function was chaired by the EAC Longchang Cthitu Nienu, NCS, while chairman, Longchang village council S Taiwang addressed welcome notes and vote of thanks was proposed by Wangkhao Angtok, president of Longchang Area Students' Union.
