Peren, May 31 (MExN): Mbaupunggwa Village Council (MVC) under Peren district has objected the move to shift the location of a cardamom cultivation project from Mbaupunggwa village.
In a letter to the Director of Horticulture, Nagaland, it pointed out that the department’s letter No. HR/NEC12017-181806, dated Kohima, 29th May, 2018 related to project under State Priority List (2017-18) for ‘Cardamom Cultivation at Mbaupunggwa under Peren District’ amounting to Rs. 4 Cr was retained and approved in principle by NEC.
“The intention to change the location to Nchangram, Tening and Tepun is based purely on political lines and not based on climatic feasibility or viability while the question of those three villages being `more suitable for Cardamon cultivation' than Mbaupunggwa Village is fabricated and totally wrong on ground reality,” stated the letter appended by MVC chairman, Ramkia and Head GB, Hangbu.
The intention of Advisor I&FC to shift the location, it alleged, is “politically motivated and is done to favor his supporters and voters in these villages.”
“As approved by the State Government and retained by NEC during 2017-18, your authority is requested not to entertain such directions initiated with the sole purpose of disturbing the peaceful co-existence of villagers on flimsy grounds,” the letter added.
“Your rationale application of mind and co-operation on the matter will be highly appreciated,” MVC told the Horticulture Director.
