Minister of Higher Education & Tourism, Government of Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along inaugurated the MY Retreat above ISBT, T Khel Model village in Kohima today.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Along highlighted the need to ameliorate hospitality services in the tourism sector in the state. He said this sector was quite new for the state and emerging to be a unique form of providing experiences to the people. However, services in the hospitality sector not remain consistent leading to the disappointment of guests with many deficiencies, he added.
The Minister said that despite challenges like accessibility and distance, best services have to be provided without any compromise. He also added that both traditional and contemporary aspects need to be incorporated here.
Along said that to be successful in tourism and let it be a mainstay, it was pertinent to build strong relationship and communication. Leaving a positive experience is also crucial, he stressed and said that entrepreneurs should be focused and committed.
As such, he said return visits were likely if the initial experience was positive, emphasizing the importance of curating such experiences for lasting impact.
Akhrietuo Sekhose, proprietor of MY Retreat said that the newly inaugurated place is done in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland and will serve as a Tourist Arrival Centre for visitors, especially at the ISBT by providing a unique experience away from the town. The facility has five rooms, seating area with fire pit and traditional Morung.
Earlier, Dr Ruokovilie Sachu, Pastor, Khedi Baptist Church, Kohima Village pronounced the dedication prayer.
