Dimapur, November 11 (MExN): Myanmar Vice President – 1, U Myint Swe visited Khamti, Head Quarter of Naga Region in Myanmar on November 7. A press release received here stated that the Vice President was accompanied by Union Health Minister, Union Education Minister, Sagaing Region Chief Minister, North-Western Arm Commander and Ke Seng, Chair of Naga Self-Administrative Zone government.
The Vice President and his team called on Naga Yoya/Naga Cultural and Literal Committee (Central) in Khamti. The meeting was attended by the Naga Yoya Chairman Aung Htut, Patron Par Soe Gyi and Patron Naung Khum and other CEC. The condition of health and education sectors in Naga areas was mainly discussed during the meeting. The Vice President said, “The Government of Myanmar is committed to bring development to the Naga areas especially in health and education sectors.”
Sagaing Region, Chief Minister, U Min Naing also said in the meeting that developing road connectivity in Naga area is one the main programs for Sagaing Region Government.
Naga Yoya, Chairman, Aung Htut said that the meeting with Vice President was positive and hopeful that government will take seriousness to upgrade road connectivity and other fundamental sectors such as health and education sectors.
The Vice President trip to Nanyun, Layshi and Lahe townships was called off as finding difficulty land the chopper due to weather condition. It is likely that the Vice President will pay a visit during Naga New Year Festival in Lahe in January.
The Nagas in Myanmar are living in Naga Self-Administrative Zone, Sagaing Region and Kachin State with approximate population of five hundred thousand.
