NAA, NOA mourn 

Kohima, May 30 (MExN): The Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) had expressed pain and shock upon learning about the sudden demise of Nolvi Sophie on May 29.

Late Sophie had retired from the Department of Youth Resources and Sports as an Athletics Coach and was also a dedicated and contributory member of the NAA.

A condolence message from Abu Metha, Secretary General of NOA and Associate Vice President of the Athletics Federation of India, stated, "He dedicated the best years of his life to promoting sports, grooming young talents, and strengthening Nagaland's sports fraternity."

It further highlighted that Late Sophie was a dedicated and disciplined individual who always fulfilled his responsibilities with commitment and sincerity and positive contributions to both the department and the association since his entry into the sports arena.

The sports fraternity, especially the athletics family, deeply appreciates his sacrifices and contributions and his demise is a significant loss to all of us, the message said.

"The Olympic fraternity, led by President and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, along with all members of the Nagaland Athletics Association, extends our deepest condolences to the deceased family members. We pray to Almighty God to grant the departed soul eternal peace," it added.
