Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): The University Grant Commission (UGC), National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) peer team visited Unity College, Dimapur for the second cycle of NAAC assessment report on November 4 and.

A press release issued by the college stated that the NAAC peer team was led by the Chairperson Dr Chengappa PG along with Member Coordinator Dr Lokanath Mishra and member Dr Pralhad Pawar.

The peer team, on day one, interacted with the Principal, IQAC coordinator and members, heads of the departments, Dean of Students Welfare and the faculty members. 

The team inspected the staff room, college library, departmental mini library, counselling centre, first aid centre, NCC, NSS, YI Yuva, Eco club, history museum, computer lab, students common room, students council room, alumni office, yoga centre, women cell, mock-trench site, vermicomposting site, college girls hostel, sports facilities, rainwater harvesting facility and solar energy facility. After the visit, the NAAC peer team also planted trees in the college campus. 

A cultural event in honour of the peer team visit was organized by the Unity College Students Council.Under the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’ the students showcased the rich and diverse culture of India through the performance of Chang folk dance, Kathak dance and a display of various traditional attires. 

On the second day, the peer team interacted with the various committees, cells and examined their activities. The exit meeting was chaired by Dr Adani Ngullie, IQAC coordinator. The welcome address was delivered by the principal, Dr Lichumo Enie. 

The peer team members lauded the IQAC and the college fraternity. They encouraged the institution to emphasize on quality education, pedagogy, physical education and more research activities. The NAAC report was handed over by the chairman of the NAAC team Dr Chengappa PG to the Principal. 

The meeting concluded with the singing of national anthem.
