NABARD holds sensitisation workshop on GI

Dimapur, November 9 (MExN): The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Nagaland Regional Office, Dimapur conducted a state-level sensitization workshop on Geographical Indications (GI) on November 9. 

Chairing the workshop, Tiakala Ao, GM/OIC stressed on importance and benefits of GI registration, informed a release from NABARD.

She also informed the participants that the developmental bank has a grant assistance scheme to cover expenditure for various activities related to its registration, it said. 

Further, S Hrangkhol, AGM, made a presentation on NABARD’s grant assistance scheme for pre- registration as well as post-registration activities. 

Among others, the workshop was attended by senior level representatives of various organisations such as Nagaland Science and Technology Council (NASTEC), Nagaland Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd.(NHHDC), Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS), Western Sümi Totimi Hoho (WSTH), Angami Women Organisation, etc. 

The representatives of NASTEC, NHHDC and CWWS also shared the initiatives taken by their respective organisations in Nagaland with regard to GI registration, it added.
