
Dimapur, March 27, (MExN): Seven children from Nagaland, among 51 rescued from illegal homes, in Jaipur on March 12 are likely to be repatriated on March 30. In a telephonic conversation with The Morung Express, Delhi Resident Commissioner (DRC), Jyoti Kailash said the court in Jaipur has already recorded the statements of six children, while the statement of the seventh child will be recorded on March 29.
The DRC confirmed one official from Social Welfare Department, Nagaland has already reached Delhi and added that another official from the Child Welfare Commission, Peren and some police officers (Juvenile Unit) are “most likely” to reach Delhi on March 29. The Resident Cimmissioner further informed that he along with the officials from Nagaland will leave for Jaipur on March 29. Thereafter, if all legal formalities are completed for the children to be released that day, the children will be taken to Delhi on March 30 “to ensure the children are in the right hands” to be escorted back to Nagaland.
It may be added that all seven children, four girls and three boys between the ages of 10 – 17 are reportedly from Peren district. Reports suggest they were taken to Jaipur on the pretext of better education, but were kept cramped in small room without proper food or education. The accused Jacob John and his wife have been arrested.
