Naga Council Dimapur urges peace at Khehoi Camp

DIMAPUR, MARCH 24 (MExN): The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has expressed concern over recent developments at the GPRN/NSCN (Unification) camp in Khehoi on March 22 but commended the two groups for exercising restraint and refraining from violence.

“The two groups absolutely have thoughtfully restrained themselves from resorting to offensive violence on each other which general public believed that it might be for desirous reconciliation and reunification of the groups who once internally parted due to trifling misunderstanding among them,” the NCD stated.

The council acknowledged the groups for “upholding the voice of Naga people” and added, “‘no more blood shed among Naga brothers.’”

Reflecting on past conflicts, the NCD said, “The time has not yet healed the deep scars of horrible blood-bath infightings among own Naga brothers which ended only in recent years.” It further noted that since the cessation of infighting, “Nagas have been experiencing peace and tranquility in every nook and corner of Naga inhabited areas.”

The statement emphasized the need for unity to achieve a political resolution. “It is high time that, all must work and pray for the unity to resolve early Naga Political Solution, which, we believe, has gained its momentum and it is inching fast for its inclusive, honourable and acceptable conclusion,” the council said.

However, the NCD warned that the latest incident in Khehoi “has once again created fear psychosis and dismay in the minds of people which particularly affected peaceful living of Nagas in neighboring Districts of Niuland, Chumoukedima and Dimapur.”

Appealing to the concerned groups, the council urged, “develop hearts of forgiving each other and come to an amicable understanding so that peaceful environment continues prevailing in our land as before.”
