Naga Manu Sob Sabole Film: The Gone Nana (Nana, A Tale of Us)

Dr. Lemwang Chuhwanglim

I am grateful to the film producer and every individual who is in the film and my heartiest congratulations for the achievement of delivering such powerful message to the entire Nagas through movie. I have entitled the article in Nagamese to invite the attention of the predominant Nagas who understand Nagamese. In addition, “the gone Nana” is base on the little girl ‘Nana’, who left her parents, in the movie “Nana: A tale of us”.

Indeed, I presume that the movie is solely meant for the Naga audiences, which is why it has no English subtitle. The producer had stroked the iron when the entire Nagas are currently busy for the coming election. It is visible that not every Naga reads news paper and uses social media. There are villagers who do not know what happens in Kohima and what many youngsters are venturing for social transformation. These villagers can be fooled by the same political party agents for the coming election. As a response to this challenge, the current best strategy to reach them the message of transformation for the coming election is through producing movie like this. Moreover, it urges the Village Development Board and the Clean Election Campaign Committee to arrange movie day for every village to watch this movie. There is no doubt that every village has a facility to own television which is meant for the villagers.

Someone asked me “when did you come?” I answered “yesterday”, he/she replied “good, you came at the right time when the election is going to start”. Am I really important for the coming election? Do I make any difference? Yes, every Naga is important for the election and every Naga makes difference in every election. As portrayed in the movie, every individual Naga’s vote plays significant role in choosing every single politician. However, for the decade, the predominant Nagas have sold their vote not with a conscious that they value their vote, but for the money that benefits individual. Moreover, selling and buying vote solely exists in the hands of the party agents who betray candidates and the voters. The party agent withdraw huge amount of money from politicians with a promise to buy more votes, on the other hand, these agents snatch the vote of the innocents with a promise to supply money, which does not happen eventually. Analytically, party agents are the primary actors in the election who should be more responsible for corruption in election.

Like portrays in the movie, election lifts up party agents, personal assistant, personal secretary and the candidates and election pulls them down at some point of time. Personal Assistant and Personal Secretary of each winning politician play the most devilish role in the Naga society. They behave like they are the decision maker of rejecting and accepting applications of the citizens for job, who approach political leaders based on their agreement. Approving and disproving any No Objection Certificate documents of every contract work and other official documents is believed to function under their control. They act like God who controls the crucified Jesus.

Predominantly, politics in the state is played under the game of party agents. They travel from village to village, fooling villagers with few amounts in their hands from the huge amount they collect from candidates. Even at polling stations on voting day, they play violence politics which repercussions toward creating enmity among voters. The current Clean Election Campaign is highly recommended to bring these party agents to abrogate their devilish ideas and act which bring poor society. One of the initial steps for transformation in the upcoming election is to transform the devilish minds of these party agents and the acting God Personal Assistant and Personal Secretary of every Minister and MLA.

Like the little Nana who left her parents, who carried the cross of her father’s sinful act in politics, there are many more families who would face the moment when their children would carry the cross of their parent’s sin. The movie warns every Naga family to see the future of their children in the present act. Even when the political leaders do not work hard to change to bring transformation in the Naga society, it is an urgent call for the party agents and every voter to transform to bring a good difference in the coming election. Every Naga family is strongly recommended to watch the new Naga movie “Nana: A Tale of Us” to realize that we are all equally responsible to face the pathetic society and now to transform the society into a better and peaceful tomorrow.
