DIMAPUR, JUNE 5 (MExN): Naga civil society organisations have appealed to the NSCN-K (Yung Aung) to restrain from infighting in order to usher in peace. A press release from the Konyak Union Myanmar (KUM) informed that in a joint mission with Naga Yuya, NSO and ENSA, it tried to negotiate peace between the NSCN-K (Yung Aung) General Head Quarter (GHQ) and Council Head Quarter (CHQ) “while they were trying to separate.”
It informed that from April to June, the organisations tried to bring peace within the group; however it added that “Yung Aung group Council Head Quarter cadres forcefully attacked the General Head Quarter group by firing in the Nyanching field at 3:00 pm on June 5.” It informed that that no serious casualty was reported till evening.
The KUM has asked the NSCN-K (Yung Aung) to listen to the voice of the people and mediate peace between the two groups. It further stated that if this public appeal is ignored, the civil society organizations would declare non cooperation to the group.
