Minister for Tourism & Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along today asserted that our Naga society will be built by the quality of the people and not by other means. He said it is the educated people who will bring change to the society rather than literate people who are unable to identify the nuances of being responsible and resolute.

He was speaking during the Graduation Day of Modern Institute of Teacher Education for Batch of 2022-2024.  Along said this society will be built by the quality of the Naga people not by the building, infrastructure or accessories. Calling people to find connection in our humanism, he lamented that our society, although is intertwined yet want to live differently at the same time.

Adding that today we are suffering in our state because of literate people and not because of educated people who understand empathy and are responsible.

Educated people are not determined by their wealth or physical stature, Along said but their own patience and perseverance.
He said a literate person many simply have degree certificate but are not humble and resolute enough.

Speaking of the teacher training institute, Along expressed how this is a 'project for our people' which goes beyond business and said teachers are supposedly the most influential people that the world can have.

Speaking about the role and importance of being a teacher, Along said the teachers who have studied here have been taught to receive knowledge that humbles them, patience and perseverance and the knowledge that they have to make somebody greater than them.

"Whoever you are going to teach, you leave a lasting impression on them," he said adding that they are second after parents who play crucial role in making society better. He called upon the teachers to do their job well and be resilient, proud and humble in their assertion with dignity to have empathy for each class of person adding that we should lead life within our means.

Principal of the college, Dr Kate Dandesh Kumar delivered the welcome address and Lency Kent, NU 1st rank holder also spoke at the programme.  Songs were presented by the 3rd Semester and Thekingtsala M Sangtam and vote of thanks was delivered by Nchumbemo Ngullie, President of MITESU.
