DIMAPUR, JUNE 18 (MExN): The Naga Vigil Human Rights Group has asked UK Labour peer, Lord Nazir Ahmed, to “clarify whether his position within the Parliamentary Commonwealth Committee is being fraudulently misused by the NSCN- IM for propaganda purposes.”
International coordinator of Naga Vigil, David P Ward, today stated: “If as recently purported by Timothy Kaping, a UK based NSCN- IM agent, they have been “recognized by the British parliament” then Lord Ahmed is required by law to justify this alleged standpoint to his peers as well as to the public. In case there may be any remaining doubt, there is not a single level-headed British citizen who would knowingly support the nefarious activities of the NSCN-IM.”
The Naga Vigil Human Rights Group unequivocally reiterated “that it does not support in any manner whatsoever the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Muivah Faction).”
“It is our considered opinion that the said group is harbouring war criminals and have committed heinous atrocities as well as resorting to acts of terrorism. Although the NSCN-IM has ceasefires with both India and Burma they are pursuing a relentless civil war in Nagaland.”
Ward stated in a press release that aside from ‘liquidating’ those they perceive to be their political opponents, the NSCN-IM have massacred villages in the eastern Nagaland.
“A catalogue of abuses ranging from ethnic cleansing, rape, torture and extortion are hallmarks of the NSCN-IM. It is in this regard that the Naga Vigil Human Rights Group refuses to recognize this faction as a liberation organization or resistance group.” Furthermore, Naga Vigil has chosen not to associate themselves with Non Governmental Organizations who express solidarity with the NSCN-IM “without taking moral responsibility for their actions.”
“Politically, the NSCN –IM has a minority mandate of some elements although it makes counterfeit claims to speak on behalf of the nation as a whole in various international forums. It has agents in a number of countries including the United Kingdom who are stationed under false pretences in the guise of studying or the pretext of pseudo ‘Christian’ activities.”
