
Kohima, February 26 (MExN): A prominent Naga wrestler Zümolhi Mero passed away on February 25 at Dimapur. Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) mourned his demise, who belong to Pfutseromi village of Phek district. The CWA remembered the legacy that Late Mero had exceptionally outplayed in Naga traditional wrestling and secured 2nd position during 1973 Nagaland Wrestling Championship Meet. He represented CWA to the NWA championship in 1974, 1976 and 1978. In 1976, he was one of the few, who were selected to exhibit indigenous Naga wrestling at Delhi. In 1978, he participated in Mizo-Naga wrestling tournament held in Aizwal. “His passing away is a great lost for our community in particular and Nagas in general,” stated CWA president Vezohu Ruho and general secretary Kukhoto Venyo in a release received here today.
