
Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): The International Bulletin of Missionary Research (IBMR) in its recent edition have declared ‘Returning to Mother Earth’ the book recently written by Rev. Dr. Wati Longchar and published by Programme for Theology and Cultures in Asia as one of the 15 outstanding books published in 2012.
In a statement, the editors of the IBMR informed that in consultation with the 50 distinguished scholars from around the world, Professor Longchar’s book, ‘Returning to Mother Earth’ has been ‘declared among 15 outstanding books published in 2012 for special recognition of their contribution to the advancement of scholarship and influence to Mission Studies and the World Christianity’.
Professor Wati Longchar has so far authored four books and edited 27 books relating to, Tribal Culture and Religion, Contextual Theology, Mission, Ecology, HIV & AIDS, Disability and many other issues. Professor Wati Longchar is an ordained minister from Nagaland and is a professor of Christian Theology and serves as the Dean of Senate Centre for Extension and Pastoral Theological Research of the Senate of Serampore College (University). Prior to his present ministry, Professor Longchar was on a teaching faculty for fifteen years at the Eastern Theological College, Jorhat, Assam and from 2001 to 2007 as the Consultant of Ecumenical Theological Education for Asia and Pacific- A Joint Programme of World Council of Churches and Christian Conference of Asia. Professor Longchar is one of the three pioneers- along with Dr. Renthy Keitzar and Dr. Thanzauva- who started Tribal Study Centre at Eastern Theological College in the year 1996. Currently he is also the editor of The Journal of Theologies and Culture in Asia. This was stated in a press release issued by Eastern Theological College, Tribal Study Centre, Dean L.
