
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 23 (MExN): Nagaland today reported 37 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 2 new deaths. The total caseload of the State now stands at 31,027, of which 467 are active cases. The number of deaths due to the virus so far is 645.
The new cases detected on September 23 include 18 from Dimapur, 10 from Kohima, 3 from Mokokchung, 2 from Tuensang and 1 each from Kiphire, Longleng, Phek and Wokha. They comprise of 28 cases detected through self testing and random sampling, 5 traced contacts, 4 returnees/travelers.
Meanwhile, of the active cases in the State, 356 are asymptomatic, 90 have mild symptoms, 6 have moderate symptoms requiring oxygen, 7 have severe symptoms requiring oxygen, and 8 are in the ICU (4 on ventilators). Further, 45 patients are currently admitted in COVID hospitals and 401 are under home isolation.
With regard to vaccination, as per the COWIN portal, a total of 10,06,261 doses have been administered in the State so far. Of this, 6,79,956 are first doses and 3,26,305 are second doses. On Thursday, a total of 6,571 doses were administered.
Meanwhile, the Central Government on Thursday informed that 66 per cent of the country’s adult population has been administered at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 23 per cent has received both the doses.
Addressing a press conference, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said 63.7 per cent vaccine doses have been administered in rural areas and 35.4 per cent in urban areas.
India added 31,923 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 3,35,63,421, while the active cases declined to 3,01,640, the lowest in 187 days, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday.
The death toll climbed to 4,46,050 with 282 fresh fatalities, according to the data updated at 8:00am.
The active cases comprise 0.90 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.77 per cent, the highest since March 2020, the ministry said.
