As of December 6, 2023, a total of 48,830 houses have been sanctioned to the beneficiaries out of this 9,297 have been completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G).
Additionally, a total of 49,048 houses have been assigned to the State under the scheme, the Union Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti informed in a written reply to a question posed by Member of Parliament from Nagaland, Tokheho Yepthomi.
The MoS reply further suggested that while Nagaland marginally missed the target in Financial Years 2020-21, 2021-22, the State completed 3210 houses without being assigned any targets or sanctions in Financial Years 2022-23 (see table).
Under PMAY-G, beneficiaries are provided financial Assistance of Rs 1.20 lakh in plain areas and Rs 1.30 lakh in hilly States, North Eastern States including Nagaland and UTs of Jammu & Kashmir andLadakh, difficult areas, and Integrated Action Plan (IAP) districts, the reply informed.
Additional assistance of Rs 12,000 is extended for the construction of toilets through convergence with Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) or other dedicated sources of funding, it added.
The PMAY-G beneficiaries are also provided support of 90/95 person days unskilled wage employment at the current rates for the construction of their houses in convergence with MGNREGS.
