Dimapur, August 6 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Friday censured the State Assembly, claiming that it has completely ignored Congress which is the main opposition party in Parliament.
In a press release on Friday, NPCC President K Therie charged the state assembly of favouring the NSCN (IM) during the discussions on the Naga political issue in the recent state assembly session. “They do not have respect for the head of the State i.e. Governor of Nagaland and Interlocutor, neither for the Prime Minister who has declared that the Naga issue has been resolved,” it stated.
The NPCC President further said that the State Assembly neither represented the WC, NNPGs nor had respect or recognition for Tribal Hohos or the NGBF. “The entire Assembly discussion on political issue was for NSCN (IM),” he pointed out. “Their objective is to delay the implementation of political solution which is kept in cold storage,” he added.
Therie while stating that the Nagaland Chief Minister “is trying to bring a dead issue to life,” he asserted that the “Pan Naga Hoho was rejected by Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee and stakeholders.” Emphasizing that “Emotional Integration with no land is a farce,” the president reiterated that it does “not agree to Pan Naga Hoho without integration of land.” There is no more emotion, sensation or sentiment of relationships, Therie claimed and added that, “Integration within states is not acceptable anymore.”
Therie opined that “the NSCN (IM) Manipur Nagas have no solution for them in their own land.” He further said that NSCN (IM) “have to win the hearts of your people. They should accept you as brothers as we do to you here. We cannot win their hearts and love for you, nor can the Government of India.”
On the matter of elections in the state, Therie said that the Assembly members consider Nagaland voters as “materials which can be bought with money” and alluded that the state Assembly thinks the NSCN (IM) can rescue them in the election only. “It has happened in the past and it may happen again,” he claimed.
