Nagaland bag two medals at 8th NE Zone Shooting C’ship

Dimapur, March 10 (MExN): Two shooters representing Nagaland bagged to medals while another qualified for the upcoming National Shooting Championships Competition 2021 to be held in April at the 8th North East Zone Shooting Championship 2021.

Lipu Chishi of Holy Cross School, Dimapur won Silver in 10 Meter Air Rifle Sub Youth Women Individual while Imnanungsang of Ladybird School, Mokokchung won Bronze in 10 Meter Air Pistol Sub Youth Men Individual, informed a press release from Nagaland Rifle Association President Merang Jamir.

Another shooter, Krishna Wangsu of Aries Rifle & Pistol Shooting Academy qualified for the 64th National Shooting Championships Competition 2021 to be held from April 11 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh with a score of 383/400, it said. 

A total of 9 Shooters represented Nagaland at the championship held at the 4th Assam Police Battalion, Kahilibara, Guwahati from March 4-8.

The championship saw 164 shooters from Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Services participating in 45 events including Trap Shooting, played for the first time in the NE Zone Shooting Championship.

Defending Champion Assam retaining their title defeating the Services with 63 medals including 25 Gold, 16 Silver and 22 Bronze, the release added.
