Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton on June 12 maintained that India became the fastest growing major economy and solidified its geopolitical influence as the voice of the Global South under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The 12 years of Modi government in office have been dedicated to trust, development and public welfare. This historic milestone marks an extra-ordinary journey of public service, devoted leadership and a commitment to the aspiration of 140 crore Indians. A series of welfare schemes, infrastructure projects and digital initiatives were undertaken during this period,” Patton said while addressing a press conference at Nagaland state BJP Head office, Kohima, on 12 years of Modi governance (Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan).
On 10th June 2026, Modi became the longest serving elected Prime Minister of India with an unbroken tenure of 4399 days in office surpassing the record of the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Modi has been in Office for over 12 years. He took oath as Prime Minister for the first time on May 26 2014.Subsequently. Modi returns for his second term in 2019, and then for his third and current stint in 2024.
“During his governance of over a decade, his achievements include lifting nearly 250 million people out of multi-dimensional poverty and building expansive Digital Public Infrastructure,” Patton said.
Patton said that Modi has worked with the spirit of “Nation First” and focused on empowering youth, women and farmers “Under his leadership, India has witnessed transformative progress across sectors, from infrastructure and digital innovation to social we economic growth and national security,” Patton said adding that his vision for a stronger, self-reliant and globally respected India has inspired millions of people and has instilled renewed confidence in the nation's future and gained a new identity on the global stage.
Government’s key achievement in 12 years
Highlighting government’s key achievement in 12 years under Modi’s leadership, Patton said that more than 81 crore people are receiving free food grains every month.
Over 4 crore houses have been built under the PM Awas Yojana and more than 10.5 crore rural households have received tap water connections under Jal Jeevan Mission. Over 32 crore women have opened Jan Dhan bank accounts, around 3 crore women have become “Lakhpati Didis”, while nearly 10 crore toilets have been constructed and over 91 lakh self-help groups strengthened across the country.
Around 2 crore youth are expected to receive skill trainings, Patton said adding that more than Rs 40 lakh crore disbursed through the Mudra Loan Scheme and over 10,000 startups recognized and supported through government initiatives.
In the healthcare sector, more than 70 crore people are covered under Health Insurance Schemes. Over 60 crore people are receiving free treatment benefit.
The Dy CM said that the NDA government implemented farmer-focused measures, including direct income support of over Rs 4.3 lakh crore under the PM-KISAN Scheme, distribution of 44 crore soil health cards and procurement of crops worth Rs 26 lakh crore at the minimum support.
Many major infrastructure projects were implemented, including 26 green field expressways, over 1,100 km of metro rail networks, expanded railway infrastructure and growth in the number of operational airports from 74 to 164.
The government's focus on national security, India's defense exports have crossed Rs 38,400 crore, the re-development of major religious and cultural sites and Kartarpur-related initiatives.
In the key economic and social achievements and poverty alleviation, nearly 250 million citizens exited multidimensional poverty. In Digital Public Infrastructure, India achieved universal financial inclusion through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), he said. In the Economic Growth, Patton said that India consistently secured its position as the world's fastest-growing major economy.
By 2027 India will become the third largest economy in the world, he said.
Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, he said that India spearheaded major international technological, climate, and development policy frameworks.
On behalf of all the BJP Karyakartas of Nagaland state, Patton conveyed congratulations to Modi on becoming the longest serving elected Prime Minister in the history of Independent India. “May he continue to lead the nation with the same energy and commitment towards achieving Viksit Bharat 2047,” Patton added.
