DIMAPUR, MAY 6 (MExN): The Nagaland state unit of the BJP has reiterated the demand of its central command for the Prime Minister to step down from office. A press note informed that the state unit met the Governor of Nagaland, Ashwini Kumar on May 5 demanding that the PM step down in view of the various scams.
The delegation led by the Nagaland state BJP President, M Chuba Ao included 10 members of the party along with the Presidents of the youth wing and the Mahila unit. The delegation submitted a memorandum to the Governor stating that the UPA “stands charged with monumental corruption.” The memorandum alleged that, “the Congress Party is clandestinely using the institution of the JPC to give a clean chit to the Prime Minister Singh and the Finance Minister in the 2G scam.” It further stated that the failure of the Prime Minister to appear before the Joint Parliamentary Committee “not only makes him a suspect but irreversibly confirms that he was the architect of the whole 2G scam.”
It said that the PM and the FM were “hand-in-glove with the DMK Minister, A Raja in the fraudulent allocation of 2G spectrum” resulting in a massive deflection of 1.76 lakh crores and added that the JPC report has “shamelessly exonerated” the PM and the FM. The memorandum expressed dismay that the JPC report drew the names of former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Arun Shourie, and Jaswant Singh.
Alleging that the PM and the Congress party are “neck deep in corruption,” the memorandum stated that the BJP cannot allow Parliament to function when Vajpayee’s name “has been dragged into bizarre references.” Referring to the Coalgate scam and its subsequent follow up, the memorandum alleged the PM and the government “interfere” in the functioning of the CBI. It further stated that the PM has been “using” the JPC and the Law Ministry. It added that the Parliament, people and the country have been “betrayed” by the Congress party and the UPA government.
In view of this, the memorandum asserted that the “BJP would leave no stone unturned to seek resignation of the PM.” It added, “Not a single BJP worker will lie low until we have dethroned the most corrupt Government in the history of independent India.” The BJP, Nagaland unit has called upon the citizens of India to “rise against the accumulated wrongs of the UPA against all their misdeeds and root them out of office.” The memorandum was signed by various officials of the Nagaland state BJP unit.
