Dimapur, April 13 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party Nagaland today said that it will not be observing the ‘Digital India Day’ on April 14, because it falls on Good Friday, “an important sacred day of Christians.” “The BJP Nagaland believe that it is also very important that the sanctity of religious days are also observed and maintained in the true secular character and traditions of the constitution,” the Party said in a statement issued through its General Secretary (Media) & Spokesperson, Jaangsillung Gonmei. Concurrently, the BJP Nagaland said it has also requested the Centre to “avoid important Christian days or any other religion’s important holidays which are normally national holidays from being declared as commemorative official days.” It further acknowledged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative for ‘Digital India Day,’ marking the Digital India campaign launched in July 2015 to ensure improved online infrastructure and increased connectivity for availing Government services electronically by the citizen even in rural areas. BJP Nagaland also extended a blessed Good Friday and a Happy Easter to everyone.
