Fair Price Shops to open on August 3-4

Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): All the urban/rural FPS under Dimapur District are informed to keep the Fair Price Shops open on August 3 and 4 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm to issue food grains under PMGKY Scheme, in which the ration card holder can avail 5 kg of rice per head and 1 kg of chana per card.

KMC warns dumping of medical, domestic waste in stream and river

Kohima, July 31 (MExN): The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) brought notice  to all panchayat chairman and Ward Sanitation convener that report have been received that some medical and domestic waste are found to be dump in stream/river at Dzüprei area before reaching Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) dumping site.
All wards are therefore, reminded to strictly instruct their respective ward sanitation staff not to dump/throw waste apart from the KMC dump site at Dzürüzou.
And if anyone is found throwing/dumping waste at stream /river etc apart the KMC designated dumping site at Dzürüzou, stringent action will be taken as deem fit, according to a release issued by KMC administrator Kovi Meyase.

Governor conveys Id-Ul-Zuha greetings

Kohima, July 31 (MExN): On the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Zuha, the Governor of Nagaland RN Ravi conveyed greeting to the people of Nagaland, particularly to the Muslim community.” I hope that this sacred occasion will usher in good will, harmony and further strengthen the values of a composite society. Let us celebrate Id-ul-Zuha in the true spirit while observing the constrains of the global pandemic COVID-19,” Ravi stated in a message. 

KVK Peren conduct prog on FAW in maize 

Peren, July 31 (MExN): KVK Peren under ICAR Research Complex for NER, Nagaland Centre conducted an awareness programme on Fall Army Worm (FAW) at Deukwaram village under Peren district on July 27. 
During the programme, farmers were sensitized about the causal organism, mode of infection and management of the FAW in their maize fields. Plant protection chemicals were also distributed to the farmers. Farmers reported that previous year the local sticky cultivars were not much affected but was found in all cultivars both local and improved varieties this year. Visit to maize fields to observe the incidence of the pest was also conducted. 
Farmers were also sensitized about the importance of maintaining hygiene, social distancing and wearing face mask to prevent infection from corona virus. Resource persons of the programme included Dr Patu K Zeliang, James Kikon and Dr L Babita Devi from Peren KVK.
