The Biosafety Level -2 laboratory at the CIHSR, Dimapur resumed functioning from today. The laboratory, which was inaugurated on June 27, stopped operating since July 21 after running out of reagents or test kits.

This has not been officially admitted by the state government but Health department officials disclosed that beginning July 21, samples collected in Dimapur were being routed to Kohima.

A CIHSR official on July 30 told The Morung Express that the laboratory has “received some supplies” to resume tests from Thursday.

The official did not disclose how many samples were collected during the day but tipped the maximum test capacity at around 250-300 samples per day. It was added that samples largely arrive in the evenings and the laboratory work through the night.

The laboratory serves Dimapur, Peren and Mon.
