• Directs school education dept to merge ailing schools
• Ad-hoc teachers to be granted 6th RoP scale of pay
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5 (MExN): In a major respite to the agitating Nagaland SSA and RMSA teachers of 2010 & 2013 batches, the Nagaland Cabinet has decided “in principle” to bring the teachers into the mainstream of school education.
The decision was made after the Cabinet on October 3 deliberated on the report of the Committee constituted to look into the issue of the SSA & RMSA teachers of 2010 & 2013 batch.
According to the minutes of the Cabinet meeting, the SSA & RMSA teachers would be included in the mainstream of school education on the condition that all the schools will be linked with biometric attendance and Aadhaar number of all teachers is linked to the same, which was also decided by the Cabinet on March 8, 2018.
The Nagaland SSA Teachers’ Association, NSSATA (2010 & 2013) and the Nagaland RMSA Teachers’ Association (NRMSATA) 2013, have been asserting that their post creation is not done by the SSA, but a Government of Nagaland undertaking.
Hence teachers are appointed on a regular basis and their service is not co – terminus with SSA project and therefore entitled to enjoy the benefits as a regular state’s government employees, it had contented.
The Cabinet has also directed the Department of School Education to club/merge all neighboring schools which are not performing, producing nil results or have negligible enrollment. The Cabinet stated that the department should work out optimum number of teachers required as per enrolment.
Further, the Cabinet also directed the department to frame guidelines or find a feasible solution to give “golden handshake” to the teachers who are under qualified or are untrained. The Cabinet also deliberated on the regularization of the 1166 ad-hoc teachers (All Nagaland Ad-hoc Teacher’s Group-2015 Batch) and re-iterated that their cases cannot be regularized till the court case is resolved.
However, the Cabinet has decided to grant scale pay on the basis of 6th ROP 2010, ie, scale pay PB-1 5200-20200 with grade pay 20400 for primary teachers and PB-2 9300-34800 with grade pay of 4200 for graduate teachers to the ad-hoc teachers.
