Nagaland career workshop & job mela from Nov 17

83% youngsters willing to work in private sector and 65% in the age group of 18-25 were ready to work outside, according to a survey

The Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, for the first time, would be holding a Nagaland Career Workshop & Job Mela on November 17 and 18 at NER Agri Expo Site, 4th Mile, Dimapur.  

During the workshop, private companies both national and international, which the Department has collaborated with a Consultant, would be conducting straight walk-in interviews and job placements outside the state. The walk in-interviews with the companies would be held on November 18 after interested candidates register themselves for the same. The requisite educational qualification for the job mela is Class 10 passed and above.  

Briefing media persons about the event in Dimapur on Wednesday, Parliamentary Secretary for Labour & Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu informed that career workshops for private sectors including airlines, restaurants, beauty & wellness, retail, PMKVY briefing etc would be held on November 17. He said that those candidates who do not get selected during the interview process would be enrolled for training under PMKVY. On November 18, besides other activities, on-spot interviews would be held for recruitment of candidates to various sectors by the private companies, he added.  

According to Dr. Neiphrezo, the mela would assist the youngsters to identify their fields of potentialities since varied private sectors have been roped in to cater to the needs of young people. He encouraged upon the youngsters to take advantage of the opportunity and see for themselves as to which sector they would fit in.  

Asked about the steps taken by the Department and Government of Nagaland about security of Naga youth working in the metros in the light of frequent reports of racial attacks, Dr. Neiphrezo responded that the Government would soon be taking care of the issue with the respective Indian states and Government of India as well as the recruiting companies.  

Supplementing to the query, CEO & Director, Institute for Quality for Skill Training, Kolkata, Aditya Baran Mallik who is also the Principal Consultant for the Job Mela said that the companies which would be recruiting candidates from Nagaland have set in place proper boarding and lodging support for its employees so that they have a sense of security.  

According to Mallik, an independent survey conducted by its company revealed that out of 4000 youngsters interviewed across the state, 83% expressed their willingness to work in private sector while 65% in the age group of 18-25 were ready to work outside the state. He also informed that 73% of them were interested in self-employment.  

On November 18, Chief Minister, T.R. Zeliang would be gracing the job mela.
