The Chakhesang Clean Election Movement (CCEM) today organised a joint prayer fellowship for the candidates of the Chakhesang community for February 27 polls with the intention of “seeking God’s blessings, and for God to raise His choice of leadership.”

The programme was held at The Pioneers’ Complex, Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC), T Chikri, Pfütsero in Phek district.

There are 17 Chakhesang candidates from Phek and Dimapur districts contesting in the upcoming General Elections, of which 15 from various political parties attended the programme along with their party functionaries; two could not make it due to prior engagements. Time was given to each party representative to speak on behalf of their party.

Rev Vezopa Rhakho, chairman, Chakhesang Clean Election Movement, who presided over the programme apprised the gathering of the CCEM activities. He shared that leaders who are elected through clean, fair and just means are honourable in the sight of God and man, and urged the leaders to be loyal to the people and to be defenders of the faith.

Therefore, we must abide by the teachings of Jesus Christ and take our professions as our callings. Then only we can make a difference.”

Leaders of various church denominations prayed the Prayer of Blessings over the candidates, and the Benediction was pronounced by Rev Khrotso Mero, former executive secretary, CBCC.
