KOHIMA (MExN): Poor internet connectivity has been reported from most of the Community Information Centers (CICs) in Nagaland.
Reliable source said the equipments provided in all the CIC under 52 block in Nagaland were capable of hosting good internet access speed. However, the functioning of CICs has been badly affected in terms of slow connectivity and poor access as a result of low capacity in the existing bandwidth from New Delhi.
Source told The Morung Express that New Delhi should provide higher bandwidth to the CICs in Nagaland so as to help improve the services.
Referring to the high clientele demand for the service, sources said the poor access had been a disappointment for customers availing services from the CICs.
It may be recalled that CICs was established in all the 52 blocks of the State in order to disseminate information at the grass-root level.
Alongside the internet facilities, the CICs also offer computer training to the students and the general public.
The programme is funded by the Ministry of Information Technology (IT), Government of India.
CICs are provided with V-SAT connectivity. The Department of IT is also planning to utilize the services and hardware of the CICs in its interconnectivity and e-governance programmes.
