
DIMAPUR, JANUARY 20 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and the Senior Vice President of the NDPP, Rusemtong Longkumer today denied a report that appeared in a Dimapur digital news outlet on January 20 regarding threat on the life of NDPP General Secretary, Abu Metha.
The report had claimed that the NDPP General Secretary during a meeting in Delhi on January 19 said that, “he was getting life threats to allocate ticket to the NDPP in 13 Pughuboto Assembly Constituency.”
It had further said that the meeting between leaders of NDPP and BJP was held in the presence of the Union Home Minister, Assam Chief Minister, State BJP leaders, the Deputy Chief Minister, State BJP President, wherein the Nagaland CM and NDPP Senior Vice President were also present.
The CM and the NDPP Senior VP said that the “news report citing sources” is “false” and clarified that “such a statement was never made by the Secretary General nor discussed in the meeting.”
“In the meeting, the seat sharing of both the parties was discussed in a cordial manner and the source of the news report is completely incorrect. Therefore, this communiqué is being issued so that any misconception that is being spread is clarified,” it added.
