Nagaland CM plant Rhododendron saplings

Kohima, June 5 (MExN): On the occasion of World Environment Day, Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu took part in plantation of rhododendron saplings at CM’s official residence at Kohima on June 5 organized by Kohima Environment and Sanitation, NBCC.   In a release, Chairman of Kohima Environment and Sanitation, NBCC, K. Seyie said that it is all poised to make Kohima, a city of rhododendrons. Towards this aim, it has already planted more than 300 rhododendron saplings in different locations like Phizo Hill, Census office compound, NBCC headquarters and CM’s official residence. Over 1000 taxus baccata has also been planted along New Secretariat, Phizo Hill, opposite the 3rd Assam Rifles Camp, D. Block, enroute DC office, Census office compound, NBCC headquarters and CM’s official residence, he added.   Apart from hedgerow plantations, it also undertakes beautification and maintenance of prime traffic islands, occasional cleaning of the city, as well as the 29 National Highway, supervision and sanitation competition amongst the schools of Kohima etc.   With a view to further the cleanliness and sanitation initiatives, the Kohima Environment and Sanitation, NBCC has been working with churches and many like -minded organizations, individuals and allied departments such as KMC, KCCI, Kohima Village Council, Angami frontal organizations, PHE, Urban Development Departments etc.   Seizing the opportunity on WED, it appealed to the government agencies, organizations and individuals to plant more trees, particularly this month, as this is the best season for plantation, to protect the ecology and to live in a healthy environment.
