Nagaland commemorates 74th Republic Day of India

Dimapur, January 26 (MExN): Nagaland state along with the rest of the country celebrated the 74th Indian Republic Day in all the districts on January 26.

Tuensang: In Tuensang, Yangseo, Deputy Speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly graced the celebration held at the Parade Ground.

The parade review was done by DIG (R) NAP, Tuensang, after which the Deputy Speaker unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya Salute, followed by inspection of the parade contingents and his speech.

The Deputy Speaker also gave away District Commendation Awards to nine citizens of Tuensang: Wongto Chingmak, SDAO (Agri); Keneile U Suokhrie, PGT (Zoology), GHSS; Sentikumla Ao, Assistant Nursing Superintendent, District Hospital; S Thungtimongko Chang, Senior HA, RD, Sangsangnyu; Moatoshi Chang, Graduate Teacher, GHSS; M Batang Chang, Head Driver, District Hospital; B Thumloi Phom, Havildar, DEF; Tsalimong Sangtam, Driver Grade-I, DPO (ICDS); Tonglichem Sangtam, Office Chowkidar, DPO (Planning).

Cultural shows were presented by Changen Cultural Club, Tuensang town and Sangli Cultural Troupe, Tuensang town. Yangseo also inaugurated the exhibition stalls and later visited District Hospital and District Jail to give food to the patients and inmates respectively.

In the evening, the 3rd NAP, Tuensang displayed the retreat followed by flag down.

Mokokchung: Republic Day was celebrated at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. 

Advisor, F&CS, LM&CP, Nagaland, Pukhayi Sumi unfurled the National flag and delivered the Republic Day speech. Altogether nine parade contingents (DEF Mkg, 2nd NAP, 13 NAP (IR), NHG, Pensioner (Defense Personnel), NCC MGHSS, NCC QMHSS, Bharat Scout and Guide and Band Platoon 2nd NAP Alichen) took part in the March Past with Mayangniken Asst. Comdt. 2nd NAP as the Parade Commander and ABI Imlionen 2nd NAP as the 2nd in Command.

On the occasion, the entertainment extravaganza included a presentation of cultural dances by Cultural Club Khensa Village and Naga Wadir Club Ungma and the exhibition Tug of War between Watsu Mungdang and Government Lady Officers; Uniform Personnel and Non–Uniform Personnel. Later, Advisor Pukhayi Sumi inaugurated the exhibition stalls being set up by different departments.
                       
Wokha: The celebration was held at the local ground Wokha with Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Metsubo Jamir as the special guest.

Highlights of the programme included the presentation of folk songs by Wokha Town Lakhuti Women Cultural troupe and traditional rice pounding by the Longsa Women Cultural troupe. 

Eight parade contingents DEF, 7th NAP, Home Guards & Civil Defence, Ex-Service Man, NCC (Man & Women cadet), and Bharat Scout & Guides took part in March past, Assistant Commandant 7th NAP Bhandari Akhieto Sema led the match past as the parade commander.

The chief guest later in the day inaugurated the stalls put up by various departments, NGOs, and self-help groups. A football exhibition match was also played between WDFA and Deputy Commissioner XI.

Dimapur: The Dimapur district administration along with citizens of Dimapur commemorated the 74th Republic Day celebration at DDSC stadium with Jacob Zhimomi, PHED Minister as the chief guest for the event. 

For the march past there were eight parade contingents which included the Police Commissioner, Dimapur, 15th NAP (IR) Mahila Bn, Home Guard, Ex-Servicemen, NCC Dimapur, Govt College, Govt High School, Burma Camp, Govt High School, Lingrijan and 43 AR Band Platoon. According to a DIPR report, the contingents were led by Parade Commander, Imkongsangba Jamir, NPS, (Asst Commissioner of Police East Dimapur) And Parade 2 I/c, Neichuzo Rio (ABI Police Commissionerate, Dimapur) with Parade BHM, Havildar Khekato Sema (Police Commissionerate, Dimapur).

Several notable performances were also delivered by AIKO Culture Troupe Pimla, a rendition of Vande Mataram by student of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School and a dance by students of Parnab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, Dimapur. In the evening session, there were prize distribution and a retreat by the 43rd Assam Rifles.

Zunheboto: Zunheboto district celebrated Republic Day at Local Ground Zunheboto with Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly.

On arrival, the chief guest unfurled the national flag and inspected the parade, and read out the Republic Day speech.
Special songs were presented by Kinitoli and Mughasheli and Natha Old Totimi. The special guest later inaugurated the exhibition stalls. Altogether there were eight parade contingents.

Phek: Advisor for Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs, Zhaleo Rio graced the celebration at Local Ground, Phek. 

Zhaleo unfurled the National Flag followed by Rashtriya Salute and National Anthem. He inspected the parade contingents, followed by the Republic Day speech. He also inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by Agriculture and Allied Departments. 

DEF Phek led by SI Kuzhosa Epao, 5th NAP led by ABSI Toshi Meren, Home Guard led by SI Viboto H. Sumi, NCC Contingent led by AweleKapfo were the parade contingents and the first and second commanders of the four parade contingents were Assistant Commandant Vedupe Lasuh NPS and ABSI Vizoto Zao respectively. 

Presentation of folk dance and songs by Jericho II Youth and Jericho II Women Cultural Troupe were the highlights of the occasion. All District Heads of the Offices, government officials, GBs, and the public of Phek town attended the programme. 

Peren: In Peren, the Minister of Housing & Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum unfurled the National Flag, took Rashtriya Salute from the parade contingents, and delivered the Republic Day speech at Deputy Commissioner's Office Complex, Peren.

The parade contingents from DEF Peren, 9th NAP (IR) Bn. Saijang, Government Higher Sec School Peren and Peren Government College took part in the March Past. The Parade Commander was Lunso, SDPO Jalukie while parade 2 I/C was Abi Viloto S. Chishi, R.I RHQ.

On the occasion, four government employees who have been selected for the District Awards in recognition of their distinguished service were also felicitated by the special guest.

Mon: During the Republic Day observed at Local Ground, Mon Town, the programme began with parade review by SP, Mon, T Uniel Kichu, IPS. 

The Ceremonial Flag Hoisting and Inspection of Parade was carried out by the special guest, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, S. Pangnyu Phom. 

The March Past Contingents included the 6th NAP; DEF Mon; Village Guards; 6th NAP Pipe Band; Ex-servicemen; Wangkhao Government College; GHSS Mon Town 'A' and GHSS Mon Town 'D'. The Parade Commander was Asst. Commandant 6th NAP, K Hekato Sumi. 

The event also witnessed a song by Aman N Konyak and cultural dance by Mon Vale College Cultural Troupe.

Later, in the evening, the event concluded with prize distribution and display of band followed by "Beating of Retreat Ceremony" by 6th NAP Pipe Band.

Kiphire: The 74th Republic Day celebration observed at public ground, Kiphire was graced by MLA, Yitachu as the special guest. He unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from the six parade contingents.

Cultural presentations were performed by Kisetong village cultural troop and Nilejo cultural troupe of Sitimi Village while a special song was performed by Khumtsase Sangtam. 

Exhibition stalls were put up by Agri& Allied Departments, KVK, Election, Veterinary and Medical Department on occasion of the Republic Day celebration. 

Volleyball exhibition matches were also played between Young Defender Club & Elite Frontier Club and Amity Club &Ynite Sporting Club.

Commemorating the day, visitation of District Hospital and District Jail was carried out by ADS Supply department, MS and DWO respectively while Shalom Children House was visited by DPO (LRD) and DPRO Kiphire.

Longleng: In Longleng, the celebration was graced by Advisor Horticulture & Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan at the public ground, Longleng.

The special guest unfurled the national flag and took the Salute and inspected the six parade contingents comprising DEF Longleng, 12th NAP (IR) Chingtok, Village Guards of Pongo, Bauthung Government Higher Secondary School, Yingli College, and Pipe Band 12 NAP (IR) Chingtok. He then delivered the Address. 

Modern Folk Fusion by Aman& Friends, the Inauguration of exhibition stalls by the Special Guest, and a Volleyball Exhibition Match between Team Naro& Team Manthei were the highlights of the day-long event. The programme was attended by Government officials, NGOs, Civil Societies, and the general public of Longleng. 

Chümoukedima: In Chümoukedima the celebration was held at Chümoukedima Town Public Ground.

On arrival, Minister of Planning & Coordination, Parliamentary Affairs and Land Revenue, Neiba Kronu unfurled the National flag and inspected the parade contingents followed by his address.

The parade commander of the March Past contingents was ACP Chümoukedima, Ninoto Zhimomi, and the 2nd Parade Commander was ABI, Aren Jamir NAPTC. The participants of the parade contingents were 1st NAP; 15th NAP Mahila Battalion; Tetso College; Nagaland Police Central School; Government Higher Sec School, Chümoukedima; St Joseph University; Ex-Servicemen; Pipe Band, Team of Assam Rifle Training center. Folk Dance was performed by Chekiye Cultural Troupe. The day ended with a retreat by the 1st NAP Battalion, Chümoukedima.

Noklak: Advisor, Village Guards, and Information & Public Relations, S Keoshu Yinchunger unfurled the National flag and took the Rashtriya Salute from 5 (five) contingents during the 74th Republic Day celebration held at public ground, Noklak.

The parade commander was Assistant Commandant 3rd NAP Noklak Tianungba, Parade 2i/c ABSI Penthong, and Parade CHM was Hav K Peshiu. The parade contingents were DEF/NAP, Village Guard Pathso, Village Guard Wansoi, Ex-Serviceman, and Assam Rifle Pipe Band.

Advisor also inaugurated the Exhibition Stalls set up by the Agri-allied departments, Horticulture Department, Fisher & Aquatic Resources Department, and Noklak District Handloom & Handicrafts Council. Registration of the CMHIS stall was also set up in the ground.

Other highlights of the day were Tug-of-War was played and the DEF Noklak defeated District Administration.

In the evening season, a football exhibition match was played between DPDB Noklak and Khiamniungan Sports Council. The programme ended with the beating of Retreat by the 3rd NAP Noklak.

Tseminyu: The occasion was celebrated at Rengma Sports Association Ground Tseminyu Old Town with Minister of Agriculture & Cooperation G Kaito as the special guest who unfurled the national flag and inspected the parade contingents led by ABSI- ShoyeloSeb, B COY 4th NAP.

'C' COY 10th (IR) BN, NCC Baptist Hr Secondary School Tseminyu, NCC DBS Tseminyu, GHSS Tseminyu, and GHS New Town Tseminyu were the contingents while the national anthem was rendered by Christian School Tseminyu students.

The highlights of the programme were a folk dance by Kandinu cultural troupe and a Folk song by GBs Union Tseminyu. G. Kaito inaugurated exhibition stalls set up by various departments. KVK department displayed an Agri drone.

Niuland: The celebration at Niuland was graced by V Kashiho Sangtam, Minister, Geology & Mining, Soil & Water Conservation. The special guest unfurled the National Flag and took the Rashtriya salute from the 8th NAP and five other contingents under the command of ACP James Niuland followed by his address.

JNV Nihokhu & Kuhoxu village children ministry performed a special presentation while folk song and folk dance were presented by education colony (women) Niuland Town and P Vizheto village respectively.

Shamator: Shamator celebrated Republic Day with Advisor Prison, Printing, and Stationery, H Haiying. He unfurled the National Flag, inspected the contingents, and read out the Republic Day speech. 

The parade commander was Tongpang, Assistant Commandant 3rd NAP Shamator and contingents from DEF Shamator, 14th IR, V. G Shamator, GHSS Shamator, and St. Xavier School Shamator took part in the march past.

A patriotic song was presented by St Xavier School Shamator and Taekwondo demonstration by Taekwondo Association Shamator with cultural exhibition by Thopun Cultural Troupe Shamator followed by the inauguration of the stalls.
