Nagaland Conservatory of Music performing at Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav in Mumbai on February 13.
Dimapur, February 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Conservatory of Music performed at Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav (National Cultural Festival) in Mumbai on February 13. The team had also performed at the Republic Day celebrations held at the Red Fort Lawns in January, 2023.
The Nagaland Conservatory of Music (NCM) was led by Hito Kiho who serves as a conducting faculty at NCM. The choir comprised of 20 students of NCM who are professionally trained as part of an under graduate music degree programme, said a press release received here.
The NCM was established in 2012 at Dimapur, Nagaland under the leadership of Lipokmar Tzudir with an aim to prepare students as musicians, scholars, teachers, and to provide the community with performance, scholarship, and education.
In the last 10 years of its existence NCM has provided specialised music education and professional training at the highest international level, enabling students to develop musical skills, knowledge, understanding and resourcefulness which have enabled many to contribute significantly to the musical life in this country and internationally, the release stated.
NCM has represented Nagaland and India in Norway, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Ireland in collaboration with ICCR and the Indian Missions in those countries besides numerous acclaimed performances in the country.
Hundreds of musicians and artistes from within the country, besides artistes from the Philippines, Korea, and France have taken residency at NCM to progress their professional practices/careers whilst contributing tremendously to the local community.
