Nagaland CS reviews COVID situation with DTFs

Kohima, June 26 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Secretary J Alam and other senior officials of the state government interacted with the district task forces on June 26, to take stock of the COVID-19 status in the districts.

According to a DIPR report, the interaction which was conducted through video conferencing, focused mainly on testing, vaccination, rural surveillance and the respective task forces’ recommendations about the extension of lockdown.

The chief secretary is said to have emphasised on the urgent need for more testing and intensification of vaccination drives across the State. He also urged the low testing and vaccination districts to out in concerted efforts to ramp up the activities in their respective districts. 

Besides highlighting the problems and difficulties being faced in the districts in the fight against the virus, the deputy commissioners also put forth suggestions and recommendations, the DIPR reported. The CS is said to have assured the DCs that the matter would be taken up with the higher authority for consideration. He also asked all the DCs to strictly check the attendance of district head of offices and make sure that the officer concerned is in the station. He lauded the DTFs and encouraged them to work harder in order to contain the virus, the report stated. 

Nagaland DGP TJ Longkumer asked all the superintendents of police to be more vigilant and make sure that anti-social activities are not carried out around the vicinity of the hospitals. “Security of the medical staff and patients is very important,” the DIPR report quoted him as saying. He also informed that a citation along with Rs 50,000 in cash was given to the Longleng District Executive Force (DEF) for achieving 100% vaccination coverage.
