Nagaland Directorate of Economics & Statistics (DES) in collaboration with Dreamz Unlimited has come up with a short video titled ‘Right Data.’ Kevileno Angami, Commissioner and Secretary For Economics & Statistics and School Education formally released the video here today.
In her brief address, Kevileno said that Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is the value of goods and services produced in the state in a year and the various sectors which go into the calculation of GSDP are primary sector, second and tertiary sector.
The primary sector includes the agri & allied sector, forestry and mining, while secondary sector has the manufacturing, construction, electricity etc and the tertiary sector include the public administration and other service matters, she said.
The value of the product as well as the services in each sector are taken into account to arrive at the GSDP, she said while maintaining that the exact annual income of the state is very important in policy formation and borrowing limits of the State.
However, many people are unaware of GSDP is all about and our contribution by providing the accurate data should be.
Everyone, including people in the villages and towns and the institutions should play an important role in the calculations of GSDP, she said while expressing hope that the video will help sensitize and create awareness among the people to come forth in providing accurate information to the data collectors.
Giving a brief introduction of the video, Neidilhou Angami, Director Economics & Statistics said it has been created with a view to spread awareness among the general public to provide accurate and reliable statistics for policy formulation of the state government and for estimation of GSDP which is the key indicator of the economic growth of the state.
He said the actual indicators are key parameters for fixing the borrowing account of the state of Nagaland.
It also indicates the growth of the economy while also reflecting the per capita income of the state, he said.
This is the second short video of the Economics and Statistics Department while the first was on the importance of births and deaths registration, which was also done in collaboration with Dreamz Unlimited.
